Healing your relationship with food and learning to listen to and befriend your body can feel overwhelming, hopeless and even scary for so many reasons. I get it. In fact, I’ve been there myself. Today it is my mission to help you evolve your relationship with food from overwhelming to life enhancing, and to experience your body as a source of wisdom and vessel for joy and purpose. As a nutrition therapist, and fellow human, I understand the depth and pain that can exist behind these struggles, and the profound healing potential of the journey forward.

I’m Emily. 

I’m so glad you’re here.  I’m a registered dietitian and nutrition therapist specializing in eating disorders and disordered eating, a non diet approach, and women’s health.

In working together, my philosophy is that we are co-experts.

You are the expert on your body and experience, and I am here to offer knowledge, insight and to walk beside you as a support and guide.

Embodied Eating is the culmination of years of professional and personal experience, and has been influenced by many great researchers, practitioners, and modalities. 

Some highlights about my treatment approach:

–Trauma informed, understanding the impact of trauma on behavior and respecting our very wise bodies and nervous systems

–Health At Every Size (HAES), respecting diversity, with health enhancement vs. weight loss as primary outcome

–Intuitive Eating, body led eating, actively integrating the IE principles  

–Evidence based eating disorder treatment, extensive training and supervision through the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) and continuing education through various professional organizations 

–Integrative and functional medicine approach, informed by training as an herbalist, holistic health coach, and in yoga, mindfulness and meditation

“After 30 years with an eating disorder, I’ve been through my share of health plans, therapy and self-help literature, and a specialized eating disorder clinic. I tried out anything I could but nothing impacted my harmful yet treasured bad ideas about food. Emily was part of the treatment team I had at a last-ditch treatment program where I was determined to give up my ED and start healing. From the beginning, Emily understood the impact of my trauma on my beliefs about food. I challenged a lot of her ideas and she always had expert, kind and empathetic answers. She focused on the idea of providing nourishment for the tasks I wanted to accomplish. I had always pushed myself to under-eat and never thought about being a partner with my body in providing it the nourishment it needs to help me.
